Why Jacksonville is a Great Place to Study Performing Arts
Considering that there are over one million inhabitants in the Jacksonville Metropolitan area, there is very little in the way of traditional performing arts institutions. This perhaps has more to do with the age and geography of the city as well as the history of its economics rather than a disregard for performing arts by its citizens. That being said, there is the very popular Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, as well as The Florida Ballet and some theatre companies. Also, many larger companies pass through Jacksonville when on tour.
